Once again we are pleased to report that in the recently concluded session of the Connecticut Legislature, the General Assembly and the Governor reached a comprise budget that provides funding for the Eastern Regional Tourism District/Mystic Country for FY ’16 and FY’17. The final budget has a decrease of 12%, or $67,984, for ERTD.

We appreciate that the needs were greater than ever this year and that achieving a final budget was a difficult process. New Research Data Available

Economic Impact of Travel in Connecticut

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced the results of an economic impact study of the tourism industry in Connecticut, showing that the sector of the state’s economy generated $14 billion in total sales in 2013 – a three-percent increase from the prior year.  The study also shows that tourism supports more than 118,000 jobs statewide – including 80,000 direct jobs – representing 5.3 percent of all employment in the state.  Approximately 5,000 new jobs have been created in the industry since the end of the recession.
